No. 23 San Diego State hold off Rebels charge 28-20

Lucas Johnson completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 192 yards and threw three touchdowns, and No. 23 San Diego State survived a scare to beat UNLV 28-20 on Friday night.

The Aztecs led just 21-20 before Johnson found Jesse Matthews for a 7-yard strike with 3:33 left in the game.

San Diego State linebacker Seyddrick Lakalaka intercepted UNLV quarterback Justin Rogers with less than 2 minutes left in the game to thwart the Rebels’ last-ditch effort.

San Diego State, which finished with a 5-0 road mark, improved to 10-1 overall, matching its best 11-game start since starting 10-0 in 1969. The Aztecs are one of five teams in the country currently with 10 wins, joining Cincinnati, Georgia, Houston, and UTSA

Knights erase 2-goal deficit to top Blue Jackets 3-2

LAS VEGAS — Mattias Janmark broke a tie in the third period and the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 on Saturday night.

Vegas erased an early two-goal deficit and has won 10 of its last 13 since opening the season 1-4-0.

Keegan Kolesar and Reilly Smith also scored for the Golden Knights. Laurent Brossoit made 27 saves.

Kolesar also assisted on Janmark’s winner, and both netted their first goal of the season.

After gathering a loose puck behind the goal line, Kolesar found Nic Hague, who one-timed a pass to Janmark, who snuck in from behind the net. Janmark was then crafty with a quick forehand-to-backhand chip shot past Columbus goaltender Elvis Merzlikins... Read More

1 killed in shooting at parking lot in North Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)– Police are investigating a deadly shooting in North Las Vegas Saturday afternoon.

Police received a call for a person shot in a parking lot shortly after 4 p.m. to 2900 block of N Las Vegas Blvd. near Pecos Road.

The victim, who was only described as a male in his 50s, died at the scene.

No arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
