Police investigate deadly shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Metro police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence on the 5000 block of Starfinder Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m Wednesday.

A victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and a person of interest has been detained.

NFL lawyers ask court to dismiss former Las Vegas Raiders coach Gruden's lawsuit

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Lawyers representing the National Football League and Commissioner Roger Goodell have filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.

Gruden resigned from the Raiders on Oct. 11, 2021, after emails surfaced showing he used racist, misogynistic and homophobic comments.

Gruden is suing the National Football League and Goodell, over his resignation, which he describes in court paperwork as “forced.” The lawsuit, filed in November in Clark County District Court, claims the NFL and Goodell “through a malicious and orchestrated campaign… sought to destroy” Gruden’s reputation... Victim identified in deadly rollover crash on Las Vegas Boulevard North

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Clark County Coroner's office has identified 19-year-old Beleca Genesis Jones as the victim of a deadly rollover crash near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Walnut road.

The crash happened just after 12 p.m. on Tuesday when 22-year-old Michael Garcia was driving south on Las Vegas Boulevard, drove onto the rock median, lost control, overturned, and slid into an oncoming Kia Soul, according to police.

Deputies chase man through 3 Nevada counties, ends with arrest in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Nye County Sheriff's Office ended a long three county chase in Las Vegas Wednesday night.

According to the Nye County Sheriff's Office, the chase began in Esmerelda County coming out of Goldfield. Nye County was asked to take over the chase when it entered Nye County and once the suspect entered Clark County Las Vegas Metro Police assisted Nye County with its helicopter and K9 units... I-Team: Nevada Gov. Sisolak says fake electoral certificates would be criminal

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak said if fraudulent electoral votes from Nevada were sent to the federal government as the 8 News Now I-Team first reported last week, then “absolutely a crime was committed,” but said it is up to the state attorney general to decide what happens next.

Royal Links golf course closes for development

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Royal Links golf course in Sunrise Manor, which stopped operating in December, could soon be turned into a housing development.

According to county records, Touchstone Living purchased the golf club with plans for the area. The developer has a few neighborhoods being built around the valley, particularly catering to first-time homebuyers.

Jeanne and Patrick Emerson, who can see the Royal Links golf club from their yard, are sad to see it close.

"It is concerning because we are losing the view," said Jeanne Emerson. "It is very quiet right now, it is not going to be like that plus the traffic."

"Just the view, that is what sold me on the house," said Patrick Emerson.

According to county records, Touchstone Living plans to build more than a thousand homes in the area. There are a number of Touchstone Living properties around the valley, and the neighborhoods are known to be affordable... Read More

Southern Nevada Health District encouraging testing and masks

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- COVID-19 testing was the key topic during Wednesday's update from Clark County health leaders. They say whether a test is done by a professional or at home it is an important resource for the community. In this update, one focus was a reminder about wearing the correct mask.

N95 and KN95 are recommended by the CDC for best protection but people can also double-up on the cloth masks as a good alternative.

As the government rollout continues to sign people up for free COVID-19 at-home test kits, Nevada is also supplying nearly 600,000 at-home test kits to local libraries, community centers and more places that will be free to pick up. Those plans still being drafted.
