SAD STORY: Cat with firecrackers strapped to paw has leg amputated

PITTSBURGH (AP) — An animal rescue group in Pittsburgh says someone strapped firecrackers to a cat’s front left paw with rubber bands and set them off, causing such severe injuries the animal’s leg had to be amputated.

Humane Animal Rescue says on its Facebook page that two good Samaritans brought the cat in over the weekend after finding it limping around on the mangled, bloody leg.

Suspect arrested in deadly July 3 apartment complex shooting

LAS VEGAS, NV (KLAS-TV) — Detectives have now identified 28-year-old Alvester Wilson as the suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 3100 block of Soaring Gulls Drive, near Cheyenne Avenue and Rampart Boulevard, on July 3.

At approximately 3 p.m. on July 3, Las Vegas police received a report of gunfire heard in an apartment complex.

Arriving officers located an adult male lying in an apartment doorway suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim

was transported to UMC Trauma where he died on July 6.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim answered the front door of the apartment and was shot shortly after. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified two persons of interest that may be involved in this crime. ... Read More

House where Manson followers murdered 2 is on the market

LOS ANGELES (AP) — One of the Los Angeles houses where followers of Charles Manson committed notorious murders in 1969 is for sale.

The home in the hilly Los Feliz district is where Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were slain the night after actress Sharon Tate and four others were murdered were murdered by Manson followers in Benedict Canyon.

Redfin listing agent Robert Giambalvo tells the Los Angeles Times the two-bedroom home is priced at $1.98 million.

The house falls outside a requirement to inform buyers if a death occurred in a property in the previous three years, but Giambalvo says he noted on the multiple listing service that it’s the LaBianca house and agents should do research before showing it.

Felon fighting charges in killing of Vietnamese tour leaders

LAS VEGAS (AP) – A convicted felon facing the death penalty in the robbery-killing of two Vietnamese tour leaders at a Las Vegas Strip hotel wants a judge to throw out his criminal indictment and set him free.

Julius Trotter’s attorney, Lisa Rasmussen, is due to argue Wednesday that prosecutors withheld information that might have prevented a Clark County grand jury from indicting Trotter.

Trotter has pleaded not guilty to murder, burglary and robbery in the June 2018 stabbings of Sang Boi Nghia and Khoung Ba Le Nguyen in a room at the Circus Circus.

Nghia owned a tour business in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Nguyen was an employee.

Trotter is in prison on a separate resisting arrest conviction.
