Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman sentenced to life in a U.S. prison

NEW YORK (AP) — The notorious Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has been sentenced to life behind bars in a U.S. prison.

A federal judge in Brooklyn handed down the sentence Wednesday. Guzman was convicted in February in an epic drug-trafficking case.

One killed in crash on U.S. 95, expect delays

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One person was killed in a rollover crash Wednesday morning on U.S. 95 at mile marker 107, near the Lee Canyon exit, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

One northbound lane is closed while NHP investigates the crash.

980 customers without power near Sunset, Boulder Highway

LAS VEGAS, NV (KLAS-TV) — The NVEnergy “Outages and Emergency” page shows roughly 980 customers without power in the area of Sunset Road and Boulder Highway.

OVERNIGHT: Woman believed to have stabbed boyfriend after finding him in her home with another woman

LAS VEGAS, NV (KLAS-TV) — According to Las Vegas police, a female suspect was detained for stabbing her boyfriend and an unidentified woman around 12:20 a.m.

They say she arrived at her apartment at 6930 Paradise Road, near Sunset Road, to discover her boyfriend was inside with another female. An argument ensued that escalated when the suspect stabbed her boyfriend and the female.

After the stabbing, the suspect left, but returned a short time later and was taken into custody.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Following up with a “high occupancy vehicle” fan who was concerned about access to the H-O-V lane on the 95.

love the new HOV lanes [but] they forgot to add a drive in and out
space between the 15 and Jones!!”

I heard back from NDOT’s Tony Illia:

“The
first HOV access opening on northbound US95 west of Rancho is between
Valley View and Decatur, less than a mile away from the Rancho Drive
on-ramp. If the first HOV exit was closer to Rancho, it would be too
close to the flyover ramp from I-15, making it dangerous for cars to

Pocket kings takes down World Series of Poker

LAS VEGAS — (KLAS) Hossein Ensan of Germany took home the World Series of Poker crown and the grand prize of $10-million early Wednesday morning at the Rio Hotel.

Ensan had pocket kings on the final hand to top the flush draw of Dario Sammartino of Italy. Sammartino walked away with a cool $6-million for his second-place finish in the tournament’s main event.

Alex Livingston of Canada earned $4-million for his third place finish. It was the second time in WSOP history the top three finishers at the final table were all from outside the United States.

Garry Gates of Henderson, a survivor of the 2017 mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip, took home $3-million for finishing fourth.

The tournament’s main event started on Wednesday, July 3rd with a field of 8,569 players, the second largest in the World Series of Poker’s history... Read More
