Heating bills expected to rise as colder temperatures arrive

'It's time for us to move on,' Governor Sisolak addresses Gruden departure

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- As the Las Vegas Raiders prepare for their next game against the Denver Broncos, the team continues to handle the fallout of former coach Jon Gruden's resignation.

On Thursday Governor Sisolak was asked to weigh in on the situation during a news conference regarding seasonal flu shots.

One area of concern is why Gruden coached the Oct 10 game against the Chicago Bears, and if team owner Mark Davis knew about the emails on Friday.

Since then, there has been a sharp outcry about the emails from local organizations and community leaders.

When asked if the Raiders have done enough to feel good about the tremendous investment made for them in the community, the governor was quick to respond saying the investment was made on the stadium only, and not the team. ... Read More

Governor Sisolak promotes flu shots for Nevada residents

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-- Gov. Steve Sisolak promoted flu shots for Nevada residents by getting his annual flu shot Thursday in Las Vegas.

“It’s officially flu season and right now is the time to get vaccinated against flu,” said Governor Sisolak. “Get your vaccine before the risk of exposure is high and there are cases of flu in your workplace, at your school, or in your friend group.”

Fumo to challenge Wolfson for Clark County District Attorney seat

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Former Nevada Assemblyman Ozzie Fumo is running for Clark County District Attorney, making it official after he said in August he was considering running for the office.

He will challenge Clark County DA Steve Wolfson, who has already indicated his intention to run for re-election.

“The District Attorney’s office is a position from which enormous change can be made. If elected, it will be my goal to make Clark County a safer, healthier, and more just place for our entire community,” Fumo said.

"There are no quick fixes when it comes to justice," he said, "but we can immediately implement policies that prioritize getting the most dangerous offenders off our streets and working to find alternative solutions for non-violent and non-repeat offenders, offering restorative pathways back into society while digging out the root causes of crime and harm and ending vicious, multigenerational cycles.”... Realtor accused of burning houses down in small town south of Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A 48-year-old Realtor is being held on $20,000 bond on a first-degree arson charge, accused of burning down his own house and his brother's house on Saturday, according to a Metro police arrest report.

Julian Werly was arrested at his home just west of Nelson off SR 165. Nelson is west of U.S. Highway 95 between Boulder City and Searchlight.

Werly's brother, Gabriel, called police Saturday at about 2:30 p.m. after Werly told him he had set his house on fire. Julian Werly was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time, according to his brother.

Julian Werly also made statements threatening to shoot at police so they would shoot at him, his brother said.

New body camera video released in Tuesday's officer-involved shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police held a presser where they provided more details on a police-involved shooting on Tuesday. A metro officer shot & killed a man who police say kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and held her at gunpoint.

Police received a call at approximately 9:33 a.m., for a domestic disturbance inside an apartment building in the 5600 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard.

Arriving officers determined 43-year-old Mario Martinez, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence and forcibly removed her while threatening her with a handgun. Martinez attempted to leave in the female victim’s vehicle, however, it had a dead battery. Martinez then forced the victim to walk with him... Read More

Construction set to begin on Majestic Las Vegas hotel in early 2022

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The groundbreaking for the new Majestic hotel, which was already supposed to be under construction, will take place in early 2022, according to the hotel's website.

The $850 million off-Strip property will be on Convention Center Drive, across from the newly expanded convention center. Developer Lorenzo Doumani bought the Clarion Hotel back in 2014 and tore it down nin months later. He had planned to begin construction on the Majestic in the summer of 2021.

Even with a later construction start date, the hotel's website says it plans to have the project completed by the end of 2024.

The 720-room hotel will be non-gaming and non-smoking and will have a medical wellness spa. It will also offer 35 corporate suites on the tower's top 10 floors. The suites will be offered for sale starting at $10 million... Read More
