Police Investigating Strange Fatal Home Break-In

LAS VEGAS -- A man is dead after trying to break into a home in the northeast part of the valley. It happened at about 8 a.m. near Lake Mead and Hollywood Boulevards.

Police were called to the intersection of Piccadilly Drive and Brandon Circle to investigate what they originally thought was a stabbing. The incident began as a domestic dispute at an apartment complex and ended with a man dying at a house across the street. But police now say the incident was not a stabbing.

Instead, the man ran across the street after an argument and tried to get into house through the window. Police say the man did not know the elderly couple that was living inside and they did not know him.

Police say the man broke the window while trying to enter the home and cut himself up so badly while going through the window that he bled to death.

New Fire Station Plans Community Fair

Firefighters at the newest fire station in the valley will host a community fair and pancake breakfast on Saturday.

The fair starts at 8 a.m. at Clark County Fire Station 20 at 5865 Judson Ave. During the fair, visitors will be able to walk through the fire station and meet with firefighters. There will also be representatives from NV Energy, Southwest Gas, Metro Police, the School District, and the Southern Nevada Health District.

Several businesses from the area will also have booths at the fair. The department is encouraging people to arrive early if they want a pancake breakfast because they may run out.

“At the Clark County Fire Department, we strive to be a good neighbor and community partner,” Fire Chief Bertral Washington said. "This will be the first of many planned community events at our fire stations."

The event is set to end at 11 a.m.
