Metro police said one of their own was involved in an overnight shooting on the valley's southwest side.
At 12:47 a.m., officers were dispatched to 9800 River Trade Street, near Mountains Edge Parkway and Buffalo Drive after receiving calls about a home burglary.
Investigators told 8 News NOW that a suspect armed with a long gun broke into a home in the neighborhood and then moved from house to house in the area.
According to Metro's news release, an officer found the suspect hiding in a backyard and said the suspect pointed his gun at him. The officer fired one round, missing him, and the suspect ran off.
Another person in the area saw what happened and was able to subdue the suspect after hitting him with a baseball bat.
The police arrested the suspect and he was sent to UMC and with non life threatening injuries.
This is the 3rd officer involved-shooting in metro's jurisdiction.
