Escobedo, Legacy Win Big at Music Competition

Escobedo Middle School and Legacy High School's Chamber Ensemble claimed top honors at the "Notes to Grow" music competition for local middle and high schools Saturday at Leavitt Middle School.

Both schools received $8,000 for their first-place finishes. A total of $36,000 in prize money sponsored by Las Vegas area Walmart and Sam's Club stores was divided among seven area schools’ music programs.

Local middle school and high school musical groups submitted applications and performance video for the contest for online evaluation and public voting. The four middle school and four high school groups receiving the most votes were invited to perform at the competition.

Middle Schools

·         3rd Runner-up $2,000 ~ Sig Rogich Middle School

·         2nd Runner-up $3,000 ~ West Prep Middle School

·         1st Runner-up $5,000 ~ Teri & Brian Cram Middle School


High Schools

·         3rd Runner-up $2,000 ~ Palo Verde High School

·         2nd Runner-up $3,000 ~ Legacy High School Guitar Ensemble

·         1st Runner-up $5,000 ~ Morris Sunset High School Drum Line
