Facility that Helped At-Risk Kids Closed

A facility that helps at-risk kids closed its doors Tuesday.

Reaching Our Community’s Kids or, R.O.C.K., closed its doors because of a lack of funds. According to the group’s website, it was organized in 1998 by Allen and Kathy Love. The site says the group provides after-school programs for children with emotional and behavioral issues. It is contracted with the State of Nevada Division of Child and Family Services and with Nevada Medicaid.

The group says it uses biblical teachings as part of its programs. It also holds a Kids Church on Saturdays.  8 News NOW has contacted the organization for a comment but has not received a call back. Employees at the facilities on Sunrise Avenue were emotional about losing their jobs but did not comment on the closure.
