Coffee with a Cop Program Hopes to Bring Cops, Residents Together

Officers from Metro Police's Northeast Area Command want to connect with people living in the neighborhood in a new program called Coffee with a Cop.

The inaugural event of the department's Community Oriented Policing Team's new program will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Farmer Boys World's Greatest Hamburgers on Lamb Boulevard and Craig Road.

The program has been successfully used in other communities around the country. The idea is to change the dynamic between officers and residents by getting them to interact in a more natural way.

All residents are encouraged to attend and coffee will be provided for free. If the program is successful in this area command, the hope is to bring it all of Metro's area commands around Clark County.
