The Clark County School District must not only teach children, but feed them as well.  It's a tremendous feat and the school district takes great pride in doing it well.

On Thursday, they were showing off their food service department, which includes a kitchen that produces close to 200,000 meals every single day.

The school district wants more parents in need to sign up for the reduced or free lunch program. They want to make sure people know if their circumstances at home change, they can sign up throughout the year, not just at the beginning of the school year.

Food services say they are prepared for the demand.

“I like to compare our freezer to a football field. It's enormous and we keep it well stocked. So, our kids are never going to go hungry,” Virginia Beck with the CCSD Food Service Department said.

Beck says they strive to provide healthy meals. She says one of the most requested favorites is teriyaki chicken and brown rice.
