Health Fair and Free Pool Admission to Celebrate Father's Day

The city of Las Vegas has a number of events planned for this weekend to celebrate Father’s Day.

Doolittle Senior Center, 1930 North J Street, is planning an afternoon of activities starting at 1 p.m. Thursday.  Advance registration is required. It is for people 50 years and older. The cost is $1 per person. Call 229-6125, to register.

East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 North Eastern Avenue, is hosting a Ward 3 Fit for Life Father’s Day Family Fun Festival.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. There will be light refreshments and live music.

The festival is also a chance to double check dad’s health. Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin has partnered with Ventanilla de Salud Program and the Nevada Youth Alliance to offer free health screenings, including diabetes and blood pressure checks. There will also be flu shots, vaccinations, eye exams and massages.

The city pools are also celebrating by offering free admission for dads who bring their children to any of the three of the city’s pools Sunday.

Families can go to Municipal Pool at 431 East Bonanza Road; Pavilion Center Pool at 101 South Pavilion Center Drive; and Carlos L. Martinez and Darrio J. Hall Family Pool at 889 North Pecos Road.

The cost of kids is $1 for ages 4 to 17 and $2 for 18 to 49. Admission for people 50 years and older is a $1.50.
