High School Students Take Part in Robotics Competition
Robotics students from 10 Clark County School District (CCSD) schools will compete in the 2011 Las Vegas Regional FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition that will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus. The opening of competition will be at 9 a.m. each day. The event is free and open to the public.
The robotics competition immerses high school students in the world of design, engineering and technology and this competition requires students to collaborate with professional mentors to design and build a champion robot in just six weeks. The popularity of this event continues to grow as back in 2005, only three local high schools competed in this event. Participating local high schools include: Arbor View, Basic, Boulder City, Cimarron-Memorial, Clark, Coronado, Rancho, Southwest Career & Technical Academy and Valley.
