Health Fair Set for People in Need

There are a lot of people in southern Nevada who lost their health insurance when they lost their jobs because of the economic downturn.

Now, United Citizens Foundation is offering help to people without insurance or not enough insurance. The group is holding a health fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Boulevard North.

People in need will be able to get screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, vision, skin cancer, breast cancer plus pediatric and vaccine services. Also, free hygiene packs will be given away each hour.

Participants are also encouraged to bring their old pill bottles to get a prescription refill. No medication will be given out at the fair.

There will also be representatives from State Department of Health and Human Services with information on welfare eligibility and the food stamps program. For more information about available resources, go to ucfoundation.com
