A program to improve dental health of hundreds of kids around the valley received a boost in funding.

United Way of Southern Nevada approved $63,000 for Future Smiles. The program provides free dental care for uninsured kids in our valley. Right now the program is funding a dental clinic at Cunningham Elementary School Health Center at Jimmy Durante Boulevard and Flamingo Road. The clinic is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays in July from 8 a.m. to noon and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clinic will be closed on Friday, July 22. The clinics are on a walk-in basis.

Additional days the clinic is open:

  • Thursday, July 21 and 28, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Monday, July 25, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free dental services include screenings, sealants, fluoride varnish, cleanings and education about the importance of oral health. Future Smiles and the United Way hope to provide services to 900 kids in need in southern Nevada by the end of this year.
