LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas police are investigating an auto-pedestrian accident near Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.

The accident happened Wednesday shortly after 3 p.m. Police say a 14-year-old girl was crossing Tropicana when a 2006 Nissan Altima struck her. She was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Nissan, 33-year-old Joel Montano, hit his brakes and skidded, sliding into the pedestrian. She was transported to Sunrise Hospital in serious condition.

Montano remained on scene after the accident. Police say another vehicle was seen speeding next to the Nissan and did not stop after the accident occurred.

Anyone with information about this accident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
