LAS VEGAS --

Classes at the Robert Lunt Elementary School will resume as normal on Monday, following a fire in two portable buildings late Saturday night.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said at least two classes were affected by the fire when it went up in flames. Emergency dispatch said their call center received multiple calls around 10:27 p.m. telling them that heavy smoke was coming from the school located at 2701 Harris Avenue.

Firefighters said when they arrived they found heavy fire on the outside of a double-wide portable classroom building. The bulk of the fire was controlled within ten minutes, but there was still a fire between two portable classroom buildings which were just six inches.

It took about 30 minutes to put all of the visible flames out, according to firefighters.

The LVFD did not release the any information as to what caused the fire, but they did say it started outside the portable classroom and spread underneath, burning the floor.

The floor in one of two classrooms in the building caved in and the exterior damage on three sides of the building has been estimated at $125,000.
