Suspect in deadly shooting near Sunrise and 28th arrested

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police said they have arrested the person involved in a deadly shooting Friday at an apartment complex near Roy Martin Middle School.

Officers said 30 year-old Daniel Kelly of Las Vegas got into a heated argument with 28-year-old David Hernandez in the 2800 block of Sunrise Avenue.  It escalated and Kelly pulled out a gun and shot Hernandez several times, according to police.

After the shooting, the 30-year-old fled to a nearby apartment where he was eventually caught and taken into custody.

Kelly was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges of murder with a deadly weapon and false statement to obstruct an officer.

This was the 119th homicide in Metro's jurisdiction.
