News

LAS VEGAS -- Two people are in critical condition at University Medical Center after being attacked by four dogs Friday morning in an east Las Vegas neighborhood.

The attack happened around 9:49 a.m. on Looking Glass Lane near N. Sloan Lane and E. Bonanza Road. Neighbors say a woman, who was in her yard, was attacked by the dogs. A man who tried to stop the attack with rocks and a bat was also mauled. When police arrived, one of the dogs was shot.

The woman suffered severe injuries to her arms and face and could lose an eye, police said.

"She said it had the elderly lady's head, it was chewing on it and on her arms and everything," said Jim Maehl, a witness. "The police got here and took care of the situation and did what they had to do."

According to police, there had been two complaint calls about these dogs in the past six months.

Police confiscated three dogs.
