LAS VEGAS -- Metro police were called out to Beaconfalls Way near Vegas Valley Drive and Nellis Boulevard to investigate an incident involving two loose dogs around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the dogs charged at them and they used lethal and non-lethal shot gun rounds on them. They are now in the possession of Animal Control and it is unclear whether the officers hit the dogs.

One person was believed to have been bitten on the leg. Neighbors say the two dogs are pit bulls and were running around the neighborhood without their owner and without leashes. They also said they became frightened and had to use sticks in order to fend off the dogs.

This incident comes on the heals of Friday night's attack that injured three people in Pahrump, involving three pit bulls. The owner of those dogs, 40-year-old Ricky Davidson, was arrested and one of the victims was taken by Mercy Air to University Medical Center and listed in critical condition.

Metro said it is not known at this time whether the owners will face charges. Police are still investigating the incident.
