Walkable Community Plan Needs Your Input
Walkable Community Plan Needs Your Input

With an eye toward making the region more walkable, Las Vegas officials want community input on what to include in their initial plan.

The plan area is centered in the southeast part of the city near the intersection of Eastern and Sunrise avenues, with boundaries extending in about a half-mile radius.

Residents and anyone who frequents the area are invited to view the plan and provide feedback online at www.YourVoiceVegas.com.

The plan provides a framework for establishing a safe and accessible network of community assets within a roughly 10-minute walk from the center of the plan area. The plan will not change the zoning or property land-use designations, but will focus on physical improvements, such as crosswalk enhancements, upgrading sidewalks and adding shade trees.

In addition to gathering information via YourVoiceVegas.com, the city also will be hosting four neighborhood meetings to gather community input, scheduled as follows:

  • Sept. 11, 6-7 p.m. at Chuck Minker Sports Complex, 275 N. Mojave Road
  • Sept. 24, 6-7 p.m. at East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave
  • Oct. 15, 6-7 p.m. at Howard Hollingsworth Elementary School, 1776 E. Ogden Ave
  • Oct. 23, 6-7 p.m. at Crestwood Elementary School, 1300 Pauline Way
