City Looking for Ways to be More Walkable

The city of Las Vegas is holding a series of community meetings to talk about its efforts to make a more walkable city.

The city is developing a Ward 3 Walkable Community Plan that will focus on making the area around Eastern and Sunrise avenues an easier neighborhood to walk to school, to stores and to community amenities.

City officials want to reduce the number of miles people have to travel in cars, offer more alternative transportation options and increase social interaction.

To accomplish that goal, the city is asking for feedback from residents to find out what they want done. People can do that by logging on to yourvoicevegas.com or by attending the community meetings planned for the next few weeks.

  • Sept. 11 at Chuck Minker Sports Complex, 275 N. Mojave Road
  • Sept. 24 at East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave
  • Oct. 15 at Howard Hollingsworth Elementary School, 1776 E. Ogden Ave.
  • Oct. 23 at Crestwood Elementary School, 1300 Pauline Way.

The meetings will be from 6 to 7 p.m.
