Police Arrest 2 Suspects in Officer Involved Shooting

LAS VEGAS -- Two burglary suspects are in custody and police are investigating an officer involved shooting that caused major disruption in a northeast neighborhood Tuesday.

Police say around 10 a.m., two gang detectives tried to apprehend two men who were jaywalking in the area of Lamb and Owens. The two men took off, running into the La Fiesta apartment complex. Seven nearby schools were put on lock down and a portion of Owens was closed to traffic.

Police say 22-year-old Ray Ivory pulled out a nine-millimeter handgun and aimed it at the detectives. That's when one officer drew his weapon and fired several shots. No one was injured. Police say Ivory dropped the weapon and ran into a nearby apartment. Police were able to arrest him a short while later. He is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.

The second suspect, 24-year-old Fredrico Ramon Gordon Jr. did not run from the scene and was arrested.

Police say Ivory had burglarized a car and stole a gun shortly before police stopped him.

The detective who fired his weapon will be put on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
