Evacuated Pets Can Stay at City Animal Shelter
Evacuated Pets Can Stay at City Animal Shelter

The main animal shelter in Las Vegas is helping people evacuated from the Mt. Charleston wildfire by temporarily housing their pets.

Residents of Kyle Canyon, Trout Canyon and Lee Canyon may drop off their pets at The Animal Foundation, 655 N. Mojave Road, from 10 am - 7 pm.

The shelter will provide space for evacuation pets for the duration of the evacuation orders. Pet owners using the temporary housing must present ID at check-in and provide valid contact information.

As a precaution, evacuation animals will be vaccinated unless residents can provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations. All animals entering the facility will receive a veterinary check and will be fed if owners do not provide food. Owned animals needing medication administered on a daily basis may or may not be admitted to the shelter, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Owners of pets housed at the shelter can visit their pets daily from 11 am - 7 pm.

Evacuees interested in housing their animals at The Animal Foundation can call 384-3333 x115 for more information.
